Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi Scheduled for Official Visit to South Korea

Seoul: Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi is set to visit South Korea this week for discussions primarily aimed at strengthening bilateral relations and addressing issues concerning North Korea, as announced by Seoul's foreign ministry on Tuesday.

According to Yonhap News Agency, Wang Yi will embark on a two-day official visit to Seoul starting Wednesday. This visit comes at the invitation of South Korean Foreign Minister Cho Hyun. The agenda for Wednesday includes talks between Wang and Cho, where they will exchange views on bilateral relations, the Korean Peninsula, and other regional and global matters.

On Thursday, Wang Yi is scheduled to meet President Lee Jae Myung at Cheong Wa Dae. Discussions will focus on the development of relations between Seoul and Beijing, as well as regional security concerns, as confirmed by the presidential office. During the meeting, President Lee is also anticipated to extend greetings to Chinese President Xi Jinping.

Additionally, on the same day, National Security Adviser Wi Sung-lac will host a separate meeting and luncheon with Wang Yi. This session will cover topics of mutual interest, notably the security situation on the Korean Peninsula and broader international issues.
