Beijing: China's foreign ministry announced that work is underway to dismantle part of the steel structures constructed in the overlapping waters of the Yellow Sea shared with South Korea.

According to Yonhap News Agency, a Chinese company is executing the removal of a management platform. This operation is being autonomously conducted by the company in accordance with its management and development requirements, as stated by Chinese foreign ministry spokesperson Guo Jiakun during a regular press briefing.

The announcement from Beijing comes amid ongoing discussions between South Korea and China aimed at addressing the issue of China's construction of three steel towers in the contested maritime area. The talks recently gained momentum following summit discussions in Beijing between Chinese President Xi Jinping and South Korean President Lee Jae Myung. President Lee indicated that China was expected to dismantle one of the three steel platforms from the Yellow Sea, signaling progress in resolving the maritime dispute.
