Beijing: China announced the extension of a visa-free program for nationals of 45 countries, including South Korea, until the end of 2026. The initiative, initially introduced last November, is part of China's broader strategy to boost its economy by facilitating easier access for foreign nationals.
According to Yonhap News Agency, the visa waiver allows ordinary passport holders from these 45 countries to visit China without a visa for up to 30 days for business, tourism, family visits, and transfers. Previously set to expire at the end of this year, the waivers have now been extended to December 31, 2026. Sweden has been newly added to the list of eligible countries under this program.
China's foreign ministry emphasized the country's commitment to expanding its openness to the outside world and making entry and exit processes more convenient. Foreign ministry spokesperson Mao Ning highlighted these objectives during a press briefing, underscoring China's intent to maintain a high degree of international cooperation.
