Seoul: A bus plowed into pedestrians after veering off a road in western Seoul, resulting in two people being seriously hurt and another 11 injured, rescue officials reported. The incident occurred on Friday at an intersection near Seodaemun Station at 1:15 p.m., when the intracity bus drove off the road, collided with pedestrians, and crashed into a building.

According to Yonhap News Agency, the two individuals seriously hurt include a pedestrian in her 50s who sustained a broken leg and another pedestrian in his 30s who was bleeding from the head. Both were transported to a hospital along with six other injured individuals. The bus driver, also in his 50s, was among those injured and claimed that the bus's brakes failed.

Police are investigating the driver for causing injury and will assess the vehicle for potential defects by involving the National Forensic Service. There were no indications of alcohol or drug influence on the driver at the time of the accident.

A witness described the bus as moving straight before abruptly hitting a car, a motorcycle, and people, recounting the scene as chaotic, akin to a "battlefield." Authorities deployed 271 personnel and 18 vehicles to manage the situation and ensure safety.
