BTS Makes Triumphant Return to New York Stage After Nearly Four Years

New york: K-pop megastar BTS reunited for a U.S. performance in New York, marking the group's first appearance with all seven members stateside in about four years. The group performed at the "Spotify X BTS: Swimside" event on the rooftop of Pier 17 at Manhattan's southern tip, following their arrival from Seoul where they held a free concert at Gwanghwamun to celebrate the release of their fifth studio album, "Arirang."

According to Yonhap News Agency, the intimate show drew 1,000 superfans selected by the global music streaming platform based on top streaming hours of BTS tracks. This event presented a stark contrast to the group's last full U.S. outing in April 2022 for the "Permission to Dance on Stage" concerts at a 40,000-capacity venue in Las Vegas. During the set, members expressed visible emotion as they performed new songs, including "Swim," "Normal," and "Fya."

Jimin opened the show with a heartfelt "Thank you," responding to the roaring fans with "I love you, too." He expressed the group's joy at being reunited on stage, highlighting the importance of the moment. RM echoed this sentiment, calling the scenic Pier 17 venue a "historical place" and expressing the group's honor to perform in America. He emphasized the meaningful connection between the members and their global fan base, ARMY, acknowledging their support despite the chilly weather.

The event also included interactions with the fans, where RM noted the beauty of the ARMYs, marveling at the turnout. Jungkook and V also expressed their gratitude and happiness, with Jungkook appreciating the fans' dedication and V expressing his joy at hearing ARMY cheers in the U.S. once again.
