BTS-Coldplay hit ‘My Universe’ enters Billboard Hot 100 at No. 1

K-pop sensation BTS and British rock band Coldplay's collaborative song "My Universe" has topped Billboard's main singles chart.

The American music and entertainment magazine on Oct. 4 said the song debuted at No. 1 on Billboard's Hot 100.

This hit is the sixth No. 1 on the chart for BTS after "Dynamite," "Butter," "Permission to Dance," "Life Goes On" and "Savage Love."

The K-pop group's No. 1 streak began 13 months ago in September last year with "Dynamite." Billboard called this "the quickest accumulation of six leaders since The Beatles scored six over a year and two weeks, in 1964-66."

Released on Sept. 24, "My Universe" is the fifth "Hot Shot" in Billboard history, or a song topping the chart in its first week.

Along with Drake, a Canadian rapper who is known as the "king of hip-hop," and American singer Ariana Grande, BTS is tied for the most No. 1 debuts on the chart with five.

"My Universe" is also Coldplay's second No. 1, coming 13 years after "Viva La Vida" in 2008.

The hit is also the first collaborative song to top the chart in Billboard history.

The song is part of Coldplay's ninth album "Music of the Spheres" set for release on Oct. 15. Lead singer Chris Martin visited Korea in April this year to work with BTS.

The British group on Oct. 5 released a Twitter post saying, "Congratulations RM, Jin, SUGA, j-hope, Jimin, V and Jung Kook @BTS_twt. Thankyou to Coldplayers and ARMY and everyone who made this happen.

BTS tweeted back by saying, "It's been always an honor to make this all happen with you! Big love and congrats!"
