BOK Adopts New Foreign Reserve IT Management System for Better Efficiency

Seoul: The central bank announced Wednesday it has adopted a next-generation foreign reserve management system to enhance efficiency and better respond to market changes. As an internal IT infrastructure of the Bank of Korea (BOK), the system supports trading, risk management, settlement, and accounting tasks.

According to Yonhap News Agency, the new system integrates previously fragmented external systems into a single platform, enabling one-stop processing across the entire workflow, from pre-trade checks to execution, settlement, risk management, and performance evaluation. The previous system, which had been in operation since 2012, faced limitations in adapting to changing environments, it added.

"The new system streamlines data on externally managed assets by automating and combining it with internal data, which significantly reduces the time needed to measure investment performance," a BOK official said. "It also enhances stability by automating data handling and strengthening backup systems to prevent disruptions."
