Seoul: National Assembly Speaker Woo Won-shik met with Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk on Monday to discuss ways to expand bilateral partnerships in defense, energy, and infrastructure businesses. Woo and Tusk held the talks at the parliamentary building in Seoul, following a summit between the Polish leader and President Lee Jae Myung.

According to Yonhap News Agency, Woo expressed his hope that the bilateral relations between South Korea and Poland would be elevated to a "comprehensive and future-oriented" level. He referenced Poland's Solidarity movement in the 1980s, which significantly contributed to ending communist rule in Poland, as an inspiration for future collaborations.

Woo also requested Poland's support for the swift implementation of a major arms deal signed in 2022. Additionally, he sought assistance in mitigating uncertainties faced by South Korean companies regarding the European Union's battery regulations.

In response, Prime Minister Tusk highlighted the potential for cooperation between the two countries in areas beyond business. He urged Speaker Woo to collaborate on building peace and addressing human rights violations within the international community.
