Seoul:Police have sought an arrest warrant for a woman accused of killing her own mother at their home in western Seoul. The incident occurred on Thursday morning, with the suspect, who is in her 40s, allegedly committing the crime at 815 a.m. and subsequently calling the police. Officers from the Gangseo Police Station responded to the call and made an emergency arrest at approximately 840 a.m.
According to Yonhap News Agency, the police moved to formally arrest the woman later that night. The reasons behind the alleged murder have not been disclosed. The suspect initially referred to the victim as her "stepmother" during her call to the police; however, authorities confirmed that the victim was, in fact, her biological mother.
Further investigations revealed that the suspect's daughter reported hearing her mother claim that the victim had tried to poison her. Nonetheless, police have not uncovered any supporting evidence for this claim. Additionally, statements have been collected indicating that the suspect had previously expressed animosity toward her mother, including using abusive language.
Despite the allegations, the suspect is currently denying the charges, officials have stated.
