Army Reserve Forces Conduct Drills with Advanced Combat Gear for First Time

Seoul: The Army has successfully completed a two-week training exercise involving its reserve forces, showcasing advanced uniforms and equipment designed to enhance combat effectiveness and survivability, the armed service announced on Monday.

According to Yonhap News Agency, the drills, which commenced on October 14, represented the inaugural use of uniforms, equipment, and combat gear integrated with advanced technology, referred to as "warrior platforms." Approximately 240 reserve troops from the Army's 31st, 35th, and 52nd infantry divisions participated in the exercises.

The training involved the use of five types of cutting-edge equipment, including a telescopic sight, high-performance magnifier, laser target designator, and new bullet-proof helmet and vest. Throughout the drills, the reserve forces focused on familiarizing themselves with the new gear and conducted firing exercises to ensure operational readiness.

The Army aims to broaden the implementation of warrior platforms to 82 reserve force units by 2029, as part of its strategic initiative to develop an "elite" military force.
