Seoul: The Army said Thursday it has conducted a training program for foreign troops from Poland and two other nations to help enhance their operational capabilities of South Korea's K9 self-propelled howitzers.

According to Yonhap News Agency, the program, which ran from Nov. 12-27, involved 21 personnel from Poland, Vietnam, and Egypt, aimed at strengthening their operational and maintenance capabilities of the K9 howitzers.

During the training, participants visited a manufacturing plant for K9 howitzers and discussed strategies for operating the assets with 13 junior officers from the South Korean Army.

The Army has offered international training courses since last year to promote various domestic weapon systems, including the K9 self-propelled howitzer and the K2 main battle tank.
