All 12 Nuri-Deployed Cube Satellites Successfully Communicate With Ground Stations

Goheung: All 12 cube satellites deployed by South Korea's homegrown rocket Nuri last month have established communication with ground stations, their developers announced Monday. This achievement marks a significant milestone following the successful fourth launch of the space rocket.

According to Yonhap News Agency, the 200-ton Nuri was launched from the Naro Space Center located in the southern coastal village of Goheung, about 330 kilometers south of Seoul, on November 27. The rocket successfully placed its main satellite and 12 cube satellites into orbit at an altitude of 600 kilometers.

The Korea Aerospace Research Institute (KARI) reported successful communication with the E3 Tester-1, one of the cube satellites. Space Liin Tech, a South Korean space technology company, also confirmed successful communication with its satellite, BEE-1000. Additionally, Quaternion, another domestic space firm, verified successful communication with its cube satellite, the PERSAT, as relayed to Yonhap News Agency.

The Korea AeroSpace Administration and KARI had confirmed last week that communication was established with the remaining nine cube satellites. This event marked the first instance where all satellites deployed by Nuri in a single launch have successfully communicated with ground stations.

Cube satellites often encounter communication challenges due to their limited capacity compared to larger satellites. Despite these challenges, the main satellite managed to establish communication with South Korea's King Sejong Station in Antarctica shortly after the rocket launch.
