Air Premia Partners with Amazon Air Cargo to Boost U.S. Freight Network

Seoul: Air Premia Inc., a South Korean low-cost carrier, announced a collaboration with Amazon Air Cargo to jointly operate freight services targeting the United States' cargo market. This partnership marks a significant step in expanding Air Premia's reach within the U.S. logistics sector.

According to Yonhap News Agency, the partnership involves an interline agreement with the cargo division of U.S. e-commerce giant Amazon Inc. Under this agreement, Air Premia will transport cargo on its Incheon-Honolulu route, while Amazon Air Cargo will handle onward delivery from Honolulu to 45 destinations across America, including key cities like New York, Atlanta, and Miami.

The companies have named the route the Aloha Express, with operations having commenced on Wednesday. Air Premia highlighted that Honolulu facilitates transshipment, potentially reducing shipping time and costs by more than 20 percent compared to traditional direct routes.

Through this strategic partnership, Air Premia has expanded its U.S. freight operations beyond its existing hubs in Los Angeles, Newark, and San Francisco, thus accessing a broader network of American cities. "We aim to enhance our competitiveness in the global logistics market by leveraging the strengths of our U.S.-focused route network," an Air Premia official stated.
