Seoul: Acting Prosecutor General Noh Man-seok has announced his intention to resign in response to escalating protests within the prosecution. The controversy arose after the prosecution chose not to appeal a ruling in a significant development scandal case.

According to Yonhap News Agency, the justice ministry and the prosecution have faced criticism following their decision to not pursue an appeal in a corruption case tied to a real estate development project in Seongnam. This project dates back to when President Lee Jae Myung served as the city's mayor.

The choice to forgo an appeal has led to intense backlash from prosecutors, fueling suspicions that the justice ministry may have applied inappropriate pressure to influence the prosecution's decision-making in favor of Lee.
