2016 Korea Halal Conference Will Present Global Halal Certification Trends and Policies
? The Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs (MAFRA) announced that the Ministry would hold the 2016 Korea International Halal Conference at COEX in Gangnam, Seoul for two days from October 10 and 11, 2016.
? Those from world-class Halal food certification organizations, research centers, and global Halal food companies are planning to exchange information about certification needed for expansion into Halal food markets, standards on element analysis, and success stories of advancement into Halal food markets among others in the event.
? Moreover, the ministry is planning to step up cooperation by sharing Halal food policies with trade councilors of Indonesia, Thailand, and Malaysia, which are leading countries in Halal foods.
? On the first day of the conference, presentations will be given on the Halal food industry and new sectors in the Halal industry such as the operation of the certification system, logistics, tourism, and packaging in each country.
? Malaysia taking the lead in setting standards in the Halal food industry, and Indonesia preparing to switch to a government-led certification system, will make presentations on their Halal food certification systems and policies.
? Also, world-class experts will make presentations on Halal logistics, tourism, and packaging, which are emerging as new business items in the Halal food sector.
? The head of the Halal Food Division at Nestle, the world's largest food company will share their success stories and policies in the Halal food market, giving a big help to Korean agricultural product and food companies.
? On the second day, participants will share technology to test finished products, food ingredients, and test standards by countries as these are the important role of Halal food certification.
? Presentations will be given on trends in analysis technology for Halal food verification, a method to analyze alcohol in Korean fermented foods, and a DNA-based experiment method for food safety.
? "The Korean Halal food industry will leap up one more step through this conference, which will allow the collection and exchange of various kinds of information about certification, analysis of technology, and market trends of leading countries in the Halal food sector," said an officer of the MAFRA.
