Seoul: Nineteen South Koreans, including family members of embassy officials, have left Iran and safely arrived in neighboring Turkmenistan via a land route, the foreign ministry said Saturday, in the latest evacuation amid the intensifying conflict between Israel and Iran. The evacuees included one administrative official from the South Korean Embassy in Iran and five family members of embassy staff. They arrived in the Central Asian country on Saturday afternoon (local time).

According to Yonhap News Agency, since the conflict began on June 13 with Israel's large-scale airstrikes, a total of 56 South Koreans and their Iranian family members have evacuated the Islamic Republic. The South Korean government has provided transportation and assistance to help evacuees pass through border checkpoints and purchase plane tickets to either return home or travel to a third country. More than 40 South Korean nationals have also evacuated Israel.
