180,000 Pieces of Personal Info Leaked from Sogang University in Hacking Attack

Seoul: Sogang University in Seoul was targeted in a hacking attack that resulted in the leak of approximately 180,000 pieces of personal information belonging to students and school officials. This breach, confirmed by the university on Saturday, has raised concerns about the security of personal data within the institution.

According to Yonhap News Agency, the university identified the leak as stemming from an unidentified external attack on its integrated login account information. The compromised data includes sensitive details such as student numbers, names, affiliations, mobile phone numbers, and passwords.

In response to the breach, Sogang University has blocked the IP address associated with the attack and implemented various emergency measures to prevent further unauthorized access. The university is likely to continue investigating the incident to enhance its cybersecurity protocols and safeguard personal information in the future.
